Dear Honorable Jared Polis: Our country is going through some bumpy times and things, I believe, are really beginning to moving now in a positive direction with a new vibrant administration rocking the boat!
We certainly had a terrible last eight years under the shaky guidance of the Bush administration. Cheney, Rove, Rumsfield, Crystal and others have added to the conflagration. The costly wars, and the lack of government oversight of financial skullduggery, and pissing away the surplus of the Clinton administration have brought us to a terrible situation. We must have change, and change is being done very creatively.
It is sad that there are evil organizations like resist.net and grassfire.org riling up so many unthinking people with spurious ideas. Those people look and behave like idiots, as we have seen on TV, during their boisterous and physical disruptions of town hall meetings. These tactics indicate a lack of understanding the health-care bill and the important need for intelligent questions and input (just what Obama is looking for.)
I am an 81-year-old retired citizen and am appalled that so many of my ilk are blindsided by false concerns about health care fed to them by “frightened” Republicans and scheming rightwing groups. It is sad that Palin voiced her “death panel” comment. I can control my end of life with a living will, have an executor and if in a palliative situation I'm out of here (don't spend any more money on me!).
I hope the Republicans haven't forgotten about Terry Schiavo and the government involvement in a private citizen's life. Isn't that something Republicans abhor?
The pharmaceutical industry, through TV commercials, is telling us that we are sick. Go to a doctor and ask for a prescription and don't worry about the side effects.
Perhaps your health insurance company will pay for it, but don't have a pre-existing condition because they will cancel your policy. This way they can pay their executives millions of dollars (sickening). I cancelled my Humana Drug Prescription Plan because they raised the premium, to be taken out of my Social Security, from $26 to $43.
The only drug I take is Aleve and single malt, and I try to eat well and think well. We would be in a much better situation if we as citizens would do our part to keep ourselves healthy with good diet and exercise. Please refine Obama's health-care reform plan and let's get going.
