Vail Valley restaurants band together to support local youth

VAIL, Colorado — Want to sample the menus from 12 Vail Valley restaurants all in one evening?

“Valley Tastings: Food for Youth” takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 at Vail Christian High School in Edwards. The event supports the Eagle River Youth Coalition.

This year's restaurants are: Batter Cupcakes, Columbine Bakery, Dish, The French Press, Main Street Grill, Marko's, Rick and Kelly's, Ristorante Ti Amo, SweetKate, Ticino, Vin 48 and the Wolcott Yacht Club. Shenanimockery, a local, youth a cappella and comedy group, will perform.

The Eagle River Youth Coalition works with youth nonprofits, schools, government, law enforcement, religious organizations and parent to find solutions to the challenges facing youth. The Youth Coalition coordinates and The Colorado Healthy Kids Survey to measure high school attitudes and behaviors. The survey has identified alcohol and substance abuse, depression and thoughts of suicide as the top problems kids face.
