Commissioners approve storage property near Wolcott

Issue: Approval of an expansion of the Ute Creek industrial park near the Eagle County Landfill.

How they voted: 3-0 to approve.

What this does: The commissioners approved an expansion of the Jouflas family's existing contractor storage park near the landfill. The plan will add about 43 lots on roughly 63 acres. There won't be any electric or water service to the lots, but there will be a gate on the property and an 1,800 square-foot caretaker home.

The commissioners were worried about the prospect of the property somehow eventually being used for residential uses, which they prohibited in the approval.

What's next: Road building and leasing.
