Denver restaurant owner charged in shooting death

Yan De Yang, 40, accused of killing Lloyd Runningbear, 29, after confrontation at downtown restaurant

DENVER (AP) — Prosecutors have filed a murder charge against a Denver sushi establishment owner accused of shooting a man after a dispute inside the restaurant.

The Denver District Attorney's office said Monday it filed charges of first-degree murder and first-degree assault against 40-year-old Yan De Yang. Yang is accused of killing 29-year-old Lloyd Runningbear after a confrontation downtown at the Chopsticks and Sushi Restaurant on Oct. 22.

Yang is being held without bail and will be advised of the charges against him Wednesday.

Yang told police Runningbear was choking him and that he shot him in self-defense.
