Vail Valley students get inside look at Warren Miller flick

Vail Valley skier Chris Anthony gave students a behind-the-scenes of “Dynasty.”

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado — Vail Valley skier Chris Anthony visited Battle Mountain High School recently to give students a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of the latest Warren Miller film, “Dynasty.”

Students watched a video of Anthony's journey deep into northwest China to find families who adhere to an ancient way of life revolving around skiing. Rock drawings suggest the skiing tradition in China dates back 3,000 years, putting in question whether skiing began in the Scandinavian region.

“Dynasty” premiers locally Nov. 27 and Nov. 28 at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek.

Anthony filmed his journey and put together a documentary, “The Long Cold Walk,” with help from a University of Colorado Boulder student. He showed the video to Edwards students in hopes of inspiring them to pursue their own adventures.

Anthony has been traveling and speaking to schools on behalf of SOS Outreach and Colorado Ski Country. He will be speaking again Dec. 11 at the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch as a fundraiser for First Descents.
