Postmark honors 130-year-old Leadville opera house

LEADVILLE, Colorado - Starting Friday, the Leadville Post Office will offer a pictorial postmark to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the Leadville Tabor Opera House.

The postmark shows the opera house, with the words "Tabor Opera House Station, Celebrating 130 years."

The opera house was named for Horace Tabor, a mining magnate and former mayor and postmaster for Leadville.

The public will be able to buy souvenir cachet envelopes with the special postmark and a drawing of the opera house by local artist Ted Mullings.

People can get the free postmark by mailing a pre-addressed, stamped postcard and envelope in a larger stamped envelope to: Tabor Opera House 130th anniversary postmark, Postmaster, 130 W. 5th St. Leadville, CO 80461-9998
