Teak Simonton
EAGLE, Colorado — Eagle County Clerk and Recorder Teak Simonton has filed the necessary paperwork to seek a third term in office.
Simonton was first elected in 2002. She ran as a Republican then, and in 2006, but has since changed her voter registration and is a Democrat.
“I think I still have a lot to offer the citizens of Eagle County,” Simonton said, citing her experience at running elections and running a lean office operation.
Asked why she filed so early, Simonton noted that party caucuses for the 2010 election are only three months away, but added that she hasn't yet filed any campaign notices with the state.
Simonton isn't the first county incumbent to announce a 2010 election big. Eagle County Treasurer Karen Sheaffer filed the necessary paperwork to seek another term earlier this year.
