What goods or services do you provide? Our goal is to offer merchandise that is unique to the Vail Valley, from affordable to collectible. This includes gifts, fragrances, skin-care products, jewelry, gourmet items, home decor, art, furniture and “green” products. Over the last two years, our inventory has evolved from its initial focus on furniture and imports to include a broad range of eclectic offerings.

What's new or exciting at your place? Something is always new at Fusion! We're having a sale with 25 percent to 100 percent discounts through Nov. 21.

We will host Helen Rudy and her world-famous functional glass art collection Dec. 6. We've also added merchandise to make holiday gift shopping more fun and less expensive this season. We're especially pleased to offer gift baskets that can be personalized and which cover the gamut between gourmet foods to skin care and spa products.. And, right next door, Fusion! Cafe serves great coffee, crepes, pizza, and salads every day.

What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? We continually strive to offer products that are not found elsewhere in the valley, and certainly never all underneath one roof. We three love to travel and to find new products that we can bring back to the valley. For example, returning from a recent trip, we added bracelets from Turkey, lacquerware from Vietnam and organic spices from India.

Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: We arrived at this venture from really diverse backgrounds in business. Craig came from the world of national advetising and marketing. Bob's background is in manufacturing, international sales and commercial interiors. Karin's expertise is in finance, real estate and merchandising.

What motivates us is the excitement of a new learning curve, our creativity, and above all, a desire to fulfill our customers' needs and to exceed their expectations. We're having fun and hope our customers will find shopping with us fun, too.

What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? Karin once received a container of furniture at 5 p.m. on a cold winter's night and figured out how to get it out of the parking lot and into the store. It's amazing what can happen with a crowbar and Aleve!
