COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — A Fort Carson soldier convicted of killing two people with an AK-47 and wounding a soldier in two drive-by shootings faces a pair of mandatory life sentences.
A jury convicted 25-year-old Iraq war veteran Jomar Falu-Vives of first-degree murder after nearly seven hours of deliberation Wednesday. He's set to be sentenced Thursday.
Falu-Vives was accused of shooting a couple as they posted yard sale signs last year.
He was also convicted of attempted murder in another drive-by shooting that wounded a fellow soldier.
Falu-Vives' gun was used in the shootings, but his attorneys had argued that he did not pull the trigger.
Falu Vives was a member of an infantry unit within 4th Brigade Combat Team, which nicknamed itself the "Lethal Warriors."
