Medicare questions answered Dec. 4 in Eagle

Open enrollment for 2010 Medicare continues until Dec. 30

EAGLE, Colorado — Eagle and Garfield County Senior Health Information Program counselors will be on hand to help people 65 years of age and older with their Medicare questions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Golden Eagle Community Center in Eagle. Open enrollment for 2010 Medicare continues until Dec. 30.

“We encourage people to come and ask questions about their prescription drug coverage or other healthcare choices for 2010,” said program coordinator Cheryl Thomas. “All those on Medicare should have a Medicare D (prescription) plan, and everyone should ensure they have the best plan available, as costs and drug coverage changes yearly.”

Thomas said several Medicare Advantage plans are leaving Colorado for 2010 and about 5,000 Colorado seniors will have to make other choices.

Counseling will be free, and can help identify Medicare prescription drug plans and help with enrollment and other questions and problems they might have.

Call Thomas, 970-328-8818 to schedule an appointment with a counselor.
