EAGLE COUNTY — Elected officials and government employees from throughout Eagle County will join the Eagle County Commissioners in a “Bell-Ringing Challenge” Dec. 4 through Dec. 24.
The friendly competition will begin at various locations with the commissioners, the town of Gypsum and the town of Vail ringing bells and collecting money Dec. 4 and in the town of Red Cliff Dec. 5. All collections will benefit the Vail Valley Salvation Army.
Each town and the county will keep track of total hours volunteered by their employees and elected officials. The government that donates the most bell-ringing hours between Dec. 4 and Dec. 24 will win a “Golden Ringer Award.” Staff from the Salvation Army will tally all hours at the end of the season and announce the winner.
