Biorefinery project coming to Denver area

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - A Hawaii company has received $23 million in stimulus funds to work on a biorefinery project in Commerce City.

Clearfuels Technology Inc. will be working to produce renewable diesel and jet fuel from woody biomass.

The U.S. Department of Energy announced the funding on Friday along with awards for biorefinery projects in 14 other states.

The Department of Energy says a total of 19 projects will receive $564 million in federal stimulus funds.

It wasn't immediately known whether the project in Commerce City would bring new jobs to Colorado.
