AVON, Colorado — The Nottingham Park Log Cabin, the hub for activities in the park, will opens for the winter season on Saturday. Ice skate rentals will begin with the Icing on the Lake celebration, which starts at 2 p.m.

Beginning Dec. 19, the cabin will be open for ice skate rentals and concessions from noon to 8:00 p.m. daily. Hours are always weather dependent.

Activities on the lake include public skating, Rocky Mountain Pond Hockey Championships, adult broomball leagues, and ice fishing. Contact the cabin at 970-748-4086 or the Avon Recreation Center at 970- 748-4060 for additional information.

The rec center also is offering a holiday special to all new members for the month of December. Those who purchase a monthly pass before Dec. 31, will receive either a free fitness assessment with one a personal trainers or one free week of membership.
