VAIL, Colorado — Traffic cameras have been installed at Vail's three Interstate 70 interchange so travelers can check road conditions.
The cameras are positioned near the East Vail, Main Vail and West Vail exits and part of a network of 36 cameras along the I-70 corridor from C-470 to Vail. The camera feeds are available on CDOT's web site at www.cotrip.org, on cable television channel 10 in the Vail area and intermittently on the ecoTV-18 cable channel between regular programming.
Citizens can call for recorded road condition information on the town's road conditions line at (970) 479-2226, or on CDOT's line at 511. Also, personalized road alerts are available by subscribing to the Eagle County Alert system at www.ecalert.org.
Vail Police Chief Dwight Henninger the cameras will also be used by emergency responders in evaluating traffic situations during when Vail Pass is closed.
