In response to Herb Eaton's letter in the Vail Daily today, like I have time for this, but I am so upset, I must respond. I feel like Mr. Potter has gotten a hold of George Bailey and convinced him, his way is the way. And we all know that Mr. Potter is the villain in the movie “It's A Wonderful Life.” Trinity/RED Development is Mr. Potter and the Smart Growth Group is Mr. Bailey in the present ERS scenario.
First, I must state, that I moved to Vail in 1987 and relocated to Eagle in 1996. I moved to Colorado back in 1974, living in the Denver area and Breckenridge from Illinois. All of our lives in earlier years were different and Mr. Eaton paints a very familiar picture of life in America … back in the day. Yes, those days are in the past. And existed everywhere USA, not just Eagle.
The people opposing ERS are not against progress, as Mr. Eaton states in his letter. Positive development, usually of a gradual kind, toward achieving a goal or reaching a higher standard -- that is what the opposition is all about!
The developers of ERS are all about shoving this down our throats to save their financial butts. They could care less what happens to our town of Eagle down the road.
Scott Hunn and Yuri Kostick are the only town trustees truly looking out for the people of the town. ERS does not make financial sense!
I have heard both sides. The opposition is looking out for you. The other side is looking out for the developer.
Who are you looking out for?
People, be informed before you vote on Jan. 5!
My husband and I are voting “no” on Jan. 5 because we are very concerned for the future of the town of Eagle. And we want smart growth and progress.
We plan to retire here, so yes, we would like to see some development that makes sense for this area.
Make it look like Westminster and I am sure, eventually, we will be moving on to another town that values what they have and puts importance on the overall environment.
