VAIL, Colorado — Two days, Vail Valley, Colorado. If you’ve yet to buy or make your mother the gift of her dreams — a Costa Rican getaway or, if she’s really special, a macaroni pasta necklace — you have two days to do so. Yes, that’s right, Mother’s Day is Sunday. And if you’re not sure what to get your momma, we’ve found some great options at local stores around the valley. Stores that are open today and tomorrow — and even Sunday, if you’re a serious procrastinator. From perfume to plants, there’s sure to be at least one thing listed here that your mom would adore.

For the working mom

Koko insulated lunch box, $44.99, at Kitchen Collage in Edwards — 970-926-0400

Tan plastic grocery bags are so yesterday. This lunch bag, which includes a removable insulated shell, is so cute it might inspire mom to pack her lunch every day. Even better, it’s a dual purpose bag and would be perfect for bringing a light dinner to Hot Summer Nights free concerts, said Sabrina Kloehn, assistant manager of The Kitchen Collage.

“They’re fabulous,” she said. “We just put them out this week and I think they’ll go fast.”

Great add on: Steady Sticks, $15.95 at Kitchen Collage. These stainless-steel wine glass holders are sure to keep your drink safe at your next picnic — or at the free Tuesday Hot Summer Nights concerts slated to start next month.

For the vegetable voyeur

Kitchen Garden Box, $18.95, from the Bookworm of Edwards — 970-926-READ

Gardening guru Mike McGrath provides simple step-by-step instructions, practical tips, and delicious recipes for each veggie, from heirloom tomatoes to peas and peppers, all packaged in a cute little box your dad would find silly, which is precisely why mom will love it. Also included are 10 reusable seed storage envelopes. If you want to include some seed packets with your gift, check out the large selection at the Wildflower Farm in Edwards.

For the fragrance fanatic

Prada Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger lotion, $52 for 8.5 ounces and perfume, $74 for 1.7 ounces, from The Cos Bar in Edwards — 970-926-7734

This limited-edition fragrance from Prada has subtle notes of orange blossom, tuberose and jasmine.

“We just got this perfume in a week ago and it’s been very popular,” said Shannon Elkins, the assistant store manager. “I describe it as musky with citrus undertones.”

For the trendy mama

• Kaymen B. jewelry, $24.90 for the earrings, $29.90 for the LOVE bracelet, $36.90 for the turquoise ring and $45.90 for the multi-stone ring; Valleygirl exclusive jewelry, $48.90 for the red coral bracelet and $24 for the turquoise earrings. All at Valleygirl Boutique in Avon — 970-748-5008

This brand new line of ubber trendy gold jewelry is from designer Kaymen B. Get mom a chunky cocktail ring, which are back in vogue, or a sweet “love” charm bangle bracelet.

• Elin & Clara hat, $38.90, also at Valleygirl Boutique in Avon

Hip moms around the valley have been sporting colorful Elin & Clara hats this spring. The company that makes the contemporary accessories — hats, belts, scarves and bags — was started by two stay-at-home moms, one of whom is from the Vail Valley but now lives in Minnesota.

For the I-want-to-be-pampered mum

Mother’s Day personal-renewal spa package, $150, at Spa Anjali at the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa in Avon — 970-790-6000

Mom can choose from two different spa packages for her spa day on Sunday. She can get a 50-minute massage, a 25-minute facial and a 25-minute manicure or a 50-minute facial, a 25-minute massage and a 25-minute manicure. As part of either package, participants can choose a complimentary pilates or yoga class. Advanced reservations are required.

For the sporty mom

Sigg water bottles, $22 to $25, at Everyday Outfitters in Eagle — 970-328-6382

So yes, Sigg might be the new trendy water bottle, much like Nalgene was in the ’90s. But just because everyone has them, from 3-year-olds to grandmas, doesn’t make them less cool.

“The Keith Harring bottle will remind mom that she is loved and keep her feeling special,” said Erin Seabury, owner of Everyday Outfitters.

For the safekeeper

Egg rolls for jewelry, $39, at Asian Village in Riverwalk in Edwards — 970-926-6188

Made out of silk, these jewelry holders are lined with velvet to keep mom’s precious jewels scratchless and contained when she travels.

“They’re multi-purpose,” said Susan Bristol, co-owner of Asian Village in Riverwalk in Edwards. “You can put a whole bunch of rings in, or necklaces that just have chains. It has a pocket for bangle bracelets and a leather pull out with little holes for six pairs of earrings so you don’t lose any.”

For the flower fanatic

Four-inch potted orchid, $26.99, at The Wildflower Farm in Edwards — 970-926-5504

Forget fresh-cut flowers, which will fade and drop its petals within days. An orchid plant will last much longer — some orchid blooms last for a month or even two to three months, depending on the type of orchid. And contrary to popular belief, orchids aren’t hard to grow and you don’t need a greenhouse to keep them alive, either.

For the please-don’t-make-me-cook-tonight mother

Gourmet dinner for four (two adults, two children) delivered to your home, $104, from Cuisine Consultants — 970-376-2823

So all mom asked for was a night off from kitchen duty. No problem.

“If you just want to relax with your wife and whoever, and don’t want to fight the masses, that’s where we come in,” said Anthony Mazza, owner of Cuisine Consultants. “It’s a four-star dinner you can get dropped of. That way people can relax in in their homes but have Larkspur or Kelly Liken quality food.”

So what’s on the menu for Sunday? Handmade ricotta “Caprese” salad with oven-dried tomatoes, basil and crispy garlic, followed by filet mignon with potatoes and roasted asparagus, finished with apple tart tatin with cinnamon anglaise.

Bon appetit!
