I'm hearing Mr. Lorenti is going to run for the Minturn Town Council. Finally, my type of candidate for office!
I, like Mr. Lorenti, was one of the 13 percent to vote against Battle Mountain. I, like Mr. Lorenti, voted this way because I agree with Mr. Lorenti that Eagle County should control the future of Minturn, not Minturn itself.
Battle Mountain should develop under county supervision and Minturn should only suffer the impacts of that development, not take direct control of it. If Mr. Lorenti's referendum had passed two years ago this would have been the unavoidable result. I, like Mr. Lorenti, am disappointed the referendum did not pass.
I, like Mr. Lorenti, believe that the remaining 87 percent of Minturn residents are “sheep” and “idiots.” I, like Mr. Lorenti, do not believe that the 87 percent were actually citizens that watched the Battle Mountain proposal for years, learned about the topic, attended meetings and spoke on the issue, and made an informed, conscious decision for the long-term health of Minturn.
Instead, like Mr. Lorenti says, they are only stupid domesticated farm animals. I know for a fact that only Mr. Lorenti has the truth on every topic. When will everyone else realize this?
I, like Mr. Lorenti, crave morals and ethics in government and believe Mr. Lorenti has demonstrated these attributes. His most recent demonstration of these values was his tactic of bashing Battle Mountain while simultaneously advertising the benefits of the development on his www.1081mainstreet.com Web site to try to sell his house in Minturn for $2.1 million.
To be exact, his Web site advertised: “Ski and golf at the new private ski area with two golf courses. This private community which will have 1,700 homes is just South of Minturn. This private billion dollar resort is just getting started and has a minimum build out of twenty years. There are numerous multi-million dollar homes in the surrounding areas.”
It is too bad that after some “sheep” called him duplicitous for the contents of the site he took it down. Mr. Lorenti should have stood by his example of morals and ethics.I, like Mr. Lorenti, believe it is justified to personally attack my neighbors. It is perfectly acceptable to call people “idiots” and “stupid” when they honestly disagree with me.
I, like Mr. Lorenti, firmly believe this is how you build neighborhoods and communities worth raising our children in. Day in and day out, I teach my children to resolve differences by calling people names. I show them Mr. Lorenti's www.minturntimes.com Web site as a model of adult conflict resolution.
However, I, like Mr. Lorenti, do not like being called out by name when my motives, tactics or “facts” are legitimately questioned. How dare they question him at all!
I hope Mr. Lorenti follows through because we can do no better than him in Minturn.
The community he would lead us to is the type of community I want and I support him 100 percent!
