VAIL, Colorado — Drink, dine, dance, date — all in that order if you attend TV8's MIX event in Colorado's Vail Valley.
After hosting events and contests like the seasonal makeover and the bachelor/bachelorette auction co-produced with the Vail Daily, the station decided it was time for a new event that, once again, benefiting a local charity.
Enter speed dating: 30 men and women who are in the 30-plus age range are invited to meet and mingle with other singles. In a two-round format, 15 males and 15 females each will have a chance to get to know one another during a quick chat. After a timer rings, they're off to meet the next person.
The MIX takes place at the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa in Avon, so after the speed dating portion, which is being held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the rest of the public (or those too shy to try to meet someone one-on-one) can come and enjoy the festivities.
“It's really two events in one. How many times do you get 30 first dates in one night and a chance to party with your friends afterwards,” says Kirsten Ginnity of TV8.
The Westin's ballroom will be transformed into a chill lounge setting. Party-goers will get appetizers and drink specials from Restaurant Avondale and music by DJ Logic.
To help raise fund for the Salvation Army, some great prize packages have been put together. American Airlines and Vail Resorts Echo has teamed up to fly two lucky people to a Rock Resorts destination, courtesy of American Airlines. Or, Keystone's KAT will get you up the hill for some cat skiing above tree line at 12,000 feet, with lunch, dinner and a night's stay at the resort. Ski biking packages, clothing, spa gift certificates and a “date night” out at Beaver Creek are some of the other prizes.
