VAIL, Colorado — The Vail Public Library will provide an afternoon of games, cake, and stories for families and children of all ages from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the community room. The event is in honor of the birthday of Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, which is on Tuesday.
Local dignitaries that will read their favorite childhood stories include Vail Mayor Dick Cleveland, Vail Assistant Town Manager Pam Brandmeyer, Fire Marshall Mike Vaughan, and youth minister Erik Williams.
“We are pleased to bring families into the library for this community event. Our local luminaries are volunteering their time because of their love of reading as well as their awareness of the importance of reading to children,” says Lori Ann Barnes, Town Librarian. “This is a wonderful excuse to celebrate the life of Dr. Seuss, who did so much for children's literature. 'Read Across America' is an event celebrated by schools and libraries around the nation, and promoted by the American Library Association.”
Registration is at the door. Children under six must be accompanied by an adult. Event is free. For more information, call 970-479-2179 or visit www.vaillibrary.com.
