VAIL VALLEY, Colorado — The Eagle/Holy Cross Ranger District off the White River National will hold an open house on logging in the Vail Valley from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., on Thursday at the ranger station located at 24747 Highway 24 in Minturn.
The agency will provide information and gather comments on a supplement to the 2008 Upper Eagle River Beetle Salvage Project environmental assessment. Since the project began, changed circumstances and new information requires additional analysis. Some of the changed circumstances include a blowdown of dead lodgepole and the opportunity to use helicopters for logging near Minturn.
Forest Service specialists will be available to answer questions. Detailed descriptions of the proposed action and maps will be available at that meeting. If you are unable to attend this meeting you are welcome to meet with someone from the Forest Service, one-on-one.
Additional information about the project is available on the web at www.fs.fed.us/r2/whiteriver/projects. For further information, contact Jan Burke at 970-945-3246 or Peech Keller at 970-262-3495.
