VAIL, Colorado— The BhaktiYoga Club in Vail invites all to an evening of Kirtan and discourse on the ancient science of bhakti Yoga to be given by visiting scholar of bhakti Yoga, Dr. Howard J. Resnick (Hridayananda Goswami).
Resnick, a distinguished teacher of the ancient bhakti-yoga tradition of India, has written and taught for over 40 years throughout the world. Most notably, he is the first Westerner in history to successfully translate and comment upon the canonical Bhagavata-purana from within the tradition.
Resnick received his Ph.D. in Sanskrit and Indian Studies from Harvard University. As a visiting scholar at UCLA, Resnick has taught the history, philosophies, and religions of India at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and, most recently, at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He has also published articles with such institutions as Harvard, Columbia and the University of California. Having lectured at leading universities throughout the United States, Europe, India and South America, Resnick is much sought after as a speaker for colleges, universities, divinity schools, civic groups and religious organizations of all kinds.
The program will be held at the Holiday Inn Ballroom in West Vail on Tuesday. The program will start at 6 p.m. and entrance is free. Light refreshments will be served at the end of the program.
