Eagle River Fire Protection District sends help to Arizona

AVON, Colorado - Local firefighters from Eagle River Fire Protection District have responded to assist the effort to combat severe wildfires in Arizona. The request for assistance came through a national deployment system, called ROSS, which stands for Resource Ordering and Status System. In a large-scale emergency, incident commanders can get help from across the United States.

"We responded with two firefighters and our water tanker (last Wednesday)," said Chief Charles Moore. "Our costs are reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and our assistance to the state of Arizona comes at no cost to the district or its taxpayers."

The tanker and firefighters will deploy for up to 14 days.
