BEAVER CREEK — After challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess and saving your in-laws, what's an ogre to do? “Shrek Forever After,” the fourth and final installment in the Shrek series, will screen at the Free Family Film Series at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek (VPAC) Tuesday.
The evening's activities will kick-off at 5:30 p.m. with eco-friendly art projects with Alpine Arts Center as well as a costume contest, sponsored by Blue Moose Pizza. The movie will start at 6:30 p.m.
In “Shrek Forever After,” Shrek is tricked into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin and suddenly finds himself in an alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumplestiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Now, it's up to Shrek to restore his world and to reclaim his one True Love and family. The film is rated PG with a running time of 93 minutes.
Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character from “Shrek Forever After,” the best costume will win a $25 gift certificate from Blue Moose Pizza and an official Blue Moose t-shirt. In addition, the pizzeria will be offering a nightly dinner special at their restaurant ($25 for a large one topping pizza, salad and pitcher of soda) as well as a to-go dinner special (place a pizza order at the VPAC from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and pick it up from the restaurant, immediately following the film.)
The 2011 Free Family Film Series concludes on July 19 with the 2006 animated comedy, “Open Season.”
