AVON — A well-known musician will return in concert on Aug.10 to benefit Roundup River Ranch, an organization which provides camp experiences to children with life-threatening illnesses. Eugenia Zukerman, her daughter, Natalia, and percussionist Mona Tavakoli will perform in concert at Vail's Interfaith Chapel at 6 p.m. Billed as “A Celebration of Family in Music, Words, and Images,” the program will feature an eclectic blend of classical and folk music, interspersed with commentary from the musicians. Immediately following the performance, a gourmet dinner will be presented at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail, located approximately one block from the chapel. A silent auction featuring the artwork of Barb Bomier, Lynn Cohagen, Heather Davis, Nancy Inman, Mark Lemon, Joan Norris, Britten Roetzel and Woody Stockwell will complement the reception and dinner.
Tickets for the concert/dinner are priced at $150. Through the generosity of presenting sponsors, net proceeds from the event will directly support Roundup River Ranch's year-round camp programs. The concert is being presented by ESA (Epsilon Sigma Alpha), Vail Chapter. Tickets may be purchased on-line at blacktie-colorado.com or by calling Karin Weber at 970-926-7546.
Roundup River Ranch opened in July 2011, and is offering four camp sessions in its initial summer of operation; additional programs will be offered for families in the fall and the spring. Located in Gypsum on 85 acres, Roundup River Ranch will serve kids with life-threatening illnesses who are unable to attend regular camp due to their medical conditions and their required medical support. Their camp experience is completely free of charge. Roundup River Ranch's medical partners include Children's Hospital Colorado (founding medical partner), National Jewish Healthy, Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children P/SL, and Vail Valley Medical Center. The camp is a provisional member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, founded by actor Paul Newman two decades ago. It is the world's largest family of medical specialty camps for children.
Roundup River Ranch is, as Paul Newman said, a place where “ … kids can kick back, relax and raise a little hell.” Roundup River Ranch will serve children between the ages of 7 and 17 from 11 states encompassing Colorado and the greater Rocky Mountain region.
