VAIL, Colorado — Renovations to Red Sandstone Park, located on the North Frontage Road, will begin Tuesday. The work includes a full playground renovation, reconstruction of the parking lot and other improvements.
The town's Art in Public Places board has hired an artist to develop a unique concept for the playground. Local artist Karl Krueger has been selected for this work.
The park and parking lot will be closed throughout construction, which will be complete by the spring of 2012.The parking lot may be open for skier parking by mid-December, and the volleyball court will be open through most of the project, although short closures are likely. The $325,000 project will be constructed by R.A. Nelson and Associates.
