Minturn is celebrating the holiday season with an entire day of activity and music on Saturday. The annual outdoor winter market starts at 10 a.m. with carolers, hot chocolate and cider, as well as roasted marshmallows and a visit from Santa for the kids. Among varied artisans offering food and crafts, the new Minturn Mutts Calendar benefiting the Minturn Community Fund will also be for sale. Elephant Revival, a neo-acoustic folk quintet from Nederland, will take the deck of the Mollie G. Building, Saturday from Noon to 2 p.m. The concert is free with proof of $10 market or Minturn business purchase (proof of day-of receipt required) or $25. Parking is free. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Minturn Community Fund booth at the Minturn Market in downtown Minturn. The concert is free for kids 12 and under.Elephant Revival has been busy touring this year in support of its new album, "Break in the Clouds." The band consists of Bonnie Paine (vocals, washboard, djembe, musical saw), Sage Cook (electric banjo/guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, viola, vocals), Dango Rose (double-bass, mandolin, banjo, vocals), Daniel Rodriguez (acoustic guitar, electric banjo/guitar vocals) and Bridget Law (fiddle and vocals). The Minturn Community Fund is hosting additional festivities to mark an annual event, "Christmas on Main Street." Elephant Revival will announce the arrival of Santa on a sled at 2 p.m. led by the Holy Cross Powder Hounds snowmobile club. Santa will hand out gifts and pose for photos with Zach Mahone Photography at Sticky Fingers Caf & Bakery from 2 to 4 p.m. while the Powder Hounds give out free, hot drinks outside Mountain Pedaler with the acoustic stylings of musical guest Kevin Heinz and KHz Music. Heinz is celebrating the release of his new CD - Kevin Heinz & Friends.The free, musical entertainment continues at Minturn Music with a performance by Alibi Day. Valley locals Elli Gauthier and Patrick Padgett will perform traditional bluegrass music on the Minturn Music stage from 5 to 7 p.m.The Minturn Saloon hosts Steve Karambay playing Texas bluegrass, rock and blues from 7 to 9 p.m. During the entire day, kids will enjoy Snowman Alley at Holy Toledo created by the students at the Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy (snow permitting) and a Main Street Trivia Contest with a grand prize trip to Las Vegas. Pick-up entry forms at the Minturn Community Fund booth at the Minturn Market or from any of the above businesses.The final event of the day, at 9 p.m., is the inaugural "Beard & Moustache Contest" at Magustos.
