Films showing in Eagle County

"YOUNG ADULT"

Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn't quite gotten over high school, either. (1:40) R.

"HUGO"

"Hugo" tells the story of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. With the help of an eccentric girl, he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart shaped lock, seemingly without a key. Based on Brian Selznick's New York Times bestseller, "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," this movie was directed by Martin Scorsese. (2:15) PG.

"ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED"

The vacationing Chipmunks and Chipettes are turning a luxury cruise liner into their personal playground, until they become 'chipwrecked' on a remote island. (1:30) G.

"THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO"

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is the first film in Columbia Pictures' three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson's literary blockbuster The Millennium Trilogy. Directed by David Fincher and starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, the film is based on the first novel in the trilogy, which altogether have sold 50 million copies in 46 countries. (2:45) R.

"SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS"

Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as the world's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and Jude Law returns as his formidable colleague, Dr. Watson, in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows." Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room ... until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large - Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris). (2:15) PG-13.

"THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN"

Starring Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Defiance) as Tintin, the young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace, Defiance) as the nefarious Red Rackham. (1:55) PG.

"MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL"

Blamed for the terrorist bombing of the Kremlin, IMF operative Ethan Hunt is disavowed along with the rest of the agency when the President initiates "Ghost Protocol". Left without any resources or backup, Ethan must find a way to clear his agency's name and prevent another attack. Tom Cruise returns in the starring role as Ethan Hunt. (2:20) PG-13.

"WE BOUGHT A ZOO"

This holiday season, filmmaker Cameron Crowe ("Jerry Maguire," "Almost Famous") directs a true story about a single dad who decides his family needs a fresh start, so he and his two children move to the most unlikely of places: a zoo. With the help of an eclectic staff, and with many misadventures along the way, the family works to return the dilapidated zoo to its former wonder and glory. (2:15) PG.
