Skier died at Beaver Creek Jan. 6

BEAVER CREEK, Colorado - A 50-year-old man from Minnesota died "after a ski incident" on lower Centennial on Jan. 6.

Beaver Creek Resort reported that the man was transported to the Vail Valley Medical Center on Friday, Jan. 6 after the incident on lower Centennial, an intermediate trail on Beaver Creek. A call came into Beaver Creek Ski Patrol at about 12:55 p.m. and ski patrol responded immediately, the resort's statement said.

Beaver Creek Resort spokeswoman Jen Brown confirmed that it's the resort's policy not to release information about skier deaths unless asked first by the media.

Ski patrol provided advanced life support and transported the patient to an awaiting ambulance. He was then transported to the Vail Valley Medical Center. The skier was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, the statement said.

Beaver Creek Resort, the Beaver Creek Ski Patrol and the Vail Resorts family extend their deepest sympathy and support to the family and friends of the skier.
