Story of a river
At 6 p.m. today, join Walking Mountains Science Center and the Eagle River Watershed Council at Walking Mountains for a Jonathan Waterman lecture-film event, “State of the Colorado River: Hope for the Delta.” The evening opens with a film by the Sonoran Institute and follows with an illustrated account of Waterman's 1,450-mile journey from source to sea, emphasizing the latest news on restoring the dry Colorado River Delta. Fireside stories
Triumph Winterfest fireside storytelling will be held outside by the fire pit on the Gore Creek Promenade in Vail Village from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday. Follow the polar bear paw prints to the fireside storytelling with the Vail Public Library and Art in Public Places. Enjoy storytelling by Linda Batlin, games, and activities in celebration of the Triumph Winterfest. Hot cocoa will be served and children must be accompanied by an adult. Going to state finals
Maddie Callis, daughter of Meghon and Dean Callis, of Gypsum, and Sean McKay, son of Tom and Kari McKay, of Gypsum, competed in the Sectional Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge last weekend in Grand Junction. Sean McKay won first place and advances to the state finals in Denver on March 11. Great job!
