Russian ballet stars take the stage in Beaver Creek

VAIL - Moscow Festival Ballet is bringing some of ballet's best-loved dances to Beaver Creek Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Vilar Performing Arts Center.

The company's most talented principal dancers will be featured in many of the most well-known ballet works. Vignettes will be presented from classics such as "The Dying Swan" danced to the haunting music of Camille Saint-Saens, and the pas de deux from "Sleeping Beauty," made famous by the legend Rudolf Nureyev. Other highlights on the program are "Le Corsaire" pas de deux, known for its flying leap, and the "Don Quixote" grand pas with its bright choreography and costuming.

The Moscow Festival Ballet is composed of leading dancers across Russia, brought together in 1989 by Sergei Radchenko of the famous Bolshoi Ballet. Radchenko graduated from the Moscow School of Dance in 1964 and was with the Bolshoi for 25 years. Radchenko sought to realize his vision of a company which would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet. The Moscow Festival Ballet has toured extensively throughout the world.

Tickets for Moscow Festival Ballet are $65 and are available online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 888-920-ARTS(2787) or in person at the VPAC Box Office in Beaver Creek and Marketplace Box Office in Vail Village.
