EAGLE - The Eagle County School District wants community members, parents and students to come together for children this week for National Week of the Young Child.
As part of the National Week of the Young Child celebrated across the country, the school district is honoring young children and all of those who make a difference in children's lives every day.
District preschools and elementary schools will have Breakfast and Books, where families and community members are invited to participate in reading activities with the children today from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
"All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for success in the future," states Shelley Smith, director of early childhood for the school district. "Week of the Young Child is the perfect time to educate our community on realizing how important early learning years are for all young children."
Week of the Young Child, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.
