The State Bridge boat launch site, one of three open space properties acquired last year along the Colorado River, will be closed temporarily for enhancement work.In partnership with the BLM, Eagle County is installing a concrete boat launch as well as restrooms and changing stations. In addition, crews will pave the driveway and make improvements to the parking area. Construction is anticipated to take approximately six weeks.Eagle County Open Space Director Toby Sprunk says once the project is complete, the site will be ideal for boaters and anglers looking to access the Colorado River. “We’ve surveyed river guides, outfitters and private boaters to ensure we’re making State Bridge as functional, attractive and safe as possible for all users,” said Sprunk.Funding for the project will come from the county’s dedicated Open Space Fund. On April 17, Eagle County commissioners approved $187,000 for improvements at State Bridge and $165,000 at Two Bridges, which is also one of the three properties acquired last year. The work at State Bridge will be performed by B&B Excavating of Eagle. Similar improvements are planned for the Two Bridges site, which remains closed. For more information, contact Eagle County Open Space Director Toby Sprunk at (970) 328-8698.
