Raymond Rafael Romanin was received into the arms of the Lord on March 18.
Ray was born in San Rafael, Calif., on May 10, 1951. At the age of 5, he saved his family from a house fire in Novato, Calif. He moved to Evergreen in 1966 with his family. Ray graduated from Evergreen High School in 1969. Shortly after he graduated, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Huachuca in Arizona, where he met the love of his life, Melissa Gast, in 1974. He and his future bride returned to Colorado to be wed in Morrison in 1975.
He started plumbing in the Vail Valley in 1988 and, in 1994, moved his wife and two sons, Ramsey and Riley, to Eagle-Vail. After retiring in 2002, Ray enjoyed lots of his days traveling, hunting, fishing, diving and spending time with his family. Ray loved the saltwater, the sand and the sea breezes, and before passing, he spent a lot of his time watching the whales and waves in Puerto Rico.
He was the proud son of Natale Romanin, of Italy, and Betty Lou Robinson, of Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Melissa; his brothers, Reno (Beverly), Rick (Karla) and Randy (Terry); his sister Peg (Wayne); his sons Ramsey (Yolanda) and Riley (Valerie); and his beloved grandchildren Rayman and Rayalani.
It has been said by many that Ray never met a stranger. We are celebrating Ray's life on his birthday, May 10, at the Brush Creek Pavilion in Eagle from 4 to 8 p.m. Please wear your aloha shirt and bring any stories of Ray that you wish to share.
In lieu of flowers and donations, please give blood to any blood bank of your choice at any time in your life in remembrance of Ray!
A special thanks goes out to everyone at the Shaw Cancer Center, Home Care and Hospice of the Valley and anyone else who got to spend time with Ray during his time of need. Thank you for all of your love and support. God bless!
