This past weekend while driving through the town of Eagle, I noticed on several locations that the "Professional Firefighters of Eagle" are endorsing the ERS project. I find this hard to accept, since the fire district is a tax funded entity.
If they wish to endorse the project individually, that is their choice - but not to endorse the project as a professional entity.
My home is in the Greater Eagle Fire District, as well as many other homes, but we are not allowed to cast a vote (on the ERS election) because we are not in the corporate limits of the town - but we are liable for the mill levy needed for the fire district budget.
This would be a fair election if the people within the fire district were allowed to vote - not just the people in the corporate limits of the town.
Editor's Note: The Eagle Professional Firefighters Association - the union of professional firefighters employed by the Greater Eagle Fire Department - is the entity that issued the Eagle River Station endorsement. The fire district itself, as a governmental entity, is prohibited from taking a stand regarding the upcoming election.
