I am writing in support of the proposed Haymeadow development southeast of Eagle.
I moved to Eagle County in 1990. In my 22 years here I have always loved the people and enjoyed the lifestyle the valley has to offer. I can't imagine anywhere else I would rather call home.
I am a painting and drywall contractor, and up until a few years ago the construction industry was always a huge contributor to our local economy. It has created demand for several other businesses, (schools, government, retail, restaurants and more). Over the past few years it has become increasingly difficult to maintain the level of optimism that I have always felt for this valley. I have seen many friends and their families have to pick up and leave town due to the lack of construction jobs here.
Not only does Haymeadow seem to be a very well planned project, but will also create a number of much needed construction jobs for locals over a span of 20 years. This will allow many families to continue to enjoy the lifestyle and contribute to the economy of the community I love. I'm all for it. It appears to be a very responsible plan with minimal impact on the environment and a large portion of the land committed to open space.
In my opinion this is exactly the type of project we need to get this economy rolling again.
