EOTO, Robotic Pirate Monkey to play back-to-back nights at State Bridge

The State Bridge summer rolls along this weekend with two Colorado-bred electronic acts performing at the riverside amphitheater for back-to-back performances Friday and Saturday nights.-

Kicking things off Friday, Robotic Pirate Monkey, which was formed in 2010 by three dedicated young producers/DJs, has been building up a steady following with its unique sound, combining elements of dubstep and jam for an unusual combination. Some of their remixes have earned them a great deal of attention, amounting to just shy of a half-million plays through YouTube and Soundcloud. The trio recently headlined a sold-out show at The Fox Theatre in Boulder and has been a mainstay at the SnowBall Music Festival in Avon.-

Taking it up a notch on Saturday, EOTO represents the wild side of String Cheese Incident. Throbbing bass and thudding beats are the signatures of this project from multi-instrumentalist Michael Travis and drummer/vocalist Jason Hann. Special guests include Ill-Mannered, Omega and Fisk (of Fresh2Death).

Born out of their shared love of electronic dance music, the duo's modus operandi is to take the free-wheeling party vibe of a DJ set to the next level by using organic instruments, innovative performance technology and uncharted musical exploration. Live drums, guitars, keys and vocals are mixed, remixed and sampled on the fly using cutting-edge programs. This is all done without a script.

After almost six years on the road, EOTO has morphed into a full-scale musical experience incorporating all of the senses in the live production. Logging more than 150-plus performances per year, the project navigates through a bass-driven musical landscape while laying down enough material to successfully produce a brand new album each night they perform.

Throughout 2011, Travis and Hann recorded and released 98 live shows for public download, and each year they release their favorite tracks from the tour into one cohesive album named "K-Turns and U-Turns." Each volume of the live compilation has been edited into a non-stop epic outlining the band's live evolution. This year, the compilation pulls together 52 songs spanning over four hours of music, from 34 different cities - celebrating songs from every genre, style and tempo that EOTO created last year.
