Billy Franklin's NOLA Live will perform in Avon tonight. At the group's live shows audience members can expect a heavy dose of New Orleans funk, soul and world music with layered vocals and some of the best musicianship the Big Easy has to offer.
The band will perform on the Cima deck at The Westin in Avon for the Friday Afternoon Club sunset deck party. The FAC parties take place each Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and include live music, frozen drinks, tacos and more.
Franklin (guitar, vocals) brings a wealth of New Orleans talent in tow including Eduardo Tozzato on keys (Trombone Shorty, Bill Summers), Doug Dietrich on bass (Karl Denson, E.O.E), Kyle Cripps on sax (Ellis Marsalis, Irvin Mayfield) and Kyle Sharamitaro on drums (Kirk Joseph). Colorado music fans have followed Franklin for years as he's toured with his New Orleans based group E.O.E (6 Best of New Orleans Awards) and the Boulder based Holden Young Trio (HY3), of which he was one of the founding members.
Franklin said the concept of NOLA Live is simple.
"We like to pay tribute to the rich musical history of New Orleans, but we also want to give listeners an idea of the current state of the music scene in the city," he said. "Historically New Orleans has always pushed the boundaries of music, and still to this day that hasn't changed."
The band will also perform a free show on Thursday at the Minturn Concert Series at 6 p.m. For more information about NOLA Live's music and schedule visit www.BillyFranklinMusic.com.
