FRISCO, Colorado - Hoping to bring Whole Foods to Frisco, developer David O'Neil, with Brynn Grey Partners, presented a plan for a proposed building site to the town planning commission on Thursday.
The sketch plan proposal was met with constructive criticism and enthusiasm by the commission.
The presentation was open to public attendance and feedback and served the purpose of providing input on the proposed design of Whole Foods for the developers and designers.
The proposed building is 25,000 square feet, with a total building area of 105,000 square feet accompanied by 420 parking spaces.
The location for the proposed Whole Foods is on Summit Boulevard, adjacent to Interstate 70 across from Safeway.
Included in the informal proposal, Brynn Grey Partners have laid out an area of 15,000 square feet for "a possible expansion of Whole Foods" in the future, O'Neil said.
"In general, we liked the design and feel the developers have a good plan that will fit Frisco's character," said Jocelyn Mills, community-development director for the town of Frisco.
The proposal is not formal; it is merely the first step in approving development on commercial property, Mills said.
The next step in the process of bringing Whole Foods to Frisco is to prepare and submit a formal development application for "rigorous review involving town staff and outside agencies," Mills said.
After an application is submitted, it takes 52 days to conduct an analysis of the request, formulate a recommendation and schedule a public hearing in front of the Frisco Planning Commission.
The planning commission has final review over the development application. All meetings are open to the public, and comments are part of the hearing process.
