Vail-Summit Orthopaedics Sports Medicine docs offer free pre-season high school physicals

Dr. Richard Cunningham, sports medicine specialist and chief of surgery at Vail Valley Medical Center and Dr. William Sterett, head team physician for the U.S. Women's Alpine Ski Team, will offer free pre-participation screening physical examinations for all Eagle County High School student-athletes as required by CHSSA. With 25 years of performing these examinations between these two team physicians, this is an excellent opportunity for our local high school athletes and is available at no charge. These screening examinations are designed to identify athletes at risk for injury during the course of a sports season and will be done in accordance with the American College of Sports Medicine guidelines and with the same rigor used for USSA athletes. Athletic trainers, EMT's and physician assistants for Vail-Summit Orthopedics will donate their time assisting the doctors.

These physical exams will be taking place on a number of different weekdays in early August at the Vail-Summit Orthopaedics Edwards office. To schedule your son or daughter's appointment, call 970-477-7420.
