Pet Prom comes to Eagle-Vail

The Eagle Valley Humane Society is giving you a reason to break out your powder blue tuxedo.

It's a prom featuring 1950s music and everything that goes with it, and all the money goes to the Humane Society's efforts to place pets in homes and provide veterinary care.

So we're calling it the Pet Prom.

"It's a great chance to have fun and support the organization," said Char Quinn with the Eagle Valley Humane Society.

While Elvis will NOT be in the building, the Fabulous Femmes will be doing the music.

The Humane Society does all sorts of unique fundraising events, but this is their first Pet Prom. Board member Donna Griffin came up with the idea.

"It's been exciting the way it has all come together. We're looking forward to making this an annual event," Quinn said.

The Eagle Valley Humane Society was established in 1973 to address the needs of homeless animals in Eagle County, and the limited animal control services available at that time.

These days, the Humane Society remains the local leader in public outreach programs that affect both people and animals by helping prevent cruelty to animals, enforcement of animal cruelty laws, helping homeless animals get adopted, and preventing pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs.
