BEAVER CREEK, Colorado - The Vilar Performing Arts Center is once again embracing its love for local residents with its fall Underground Sound series, created to introduce fans to new music with up-and-coming artists with performances at an affordable price. The Underground Sound Access Pass, which includes seven concerts and seven drinks for $98, features artists performing on Sundays at the Vilar Center at 7:30 p.m. this fall. The Underground Sound Access Pass goes on sale Monday. The pass is completely transferable and available at the first performance on Sept. 23 (individual tickets also are for sale for each performance). Paula Cole will kick off the series with a few old favorites, including "Where have all the Cowboys Gone?" and "I Don't Want to Wait." On Sept. 30, fans will be introduced to rising folk singer William Fitzsimmons, an artist perfect for fans of groups such as Iron & Wine, Bon Iver and The Civil Wars."By purchasing the pass, you're taking a chance to broaden your musical library with names you may or may not be familiar with," said Kris Sabel, executive director for the Vilar Performing Arts Center. "Connecting fans with new music is an important part of our mission, and the pass is great because it's affordable and easy to share with others. Take a chance with some of these artists, and I guarantee you'll see a great show." The series continues with Leon Redbone, a classic folk-jazz sensation, on Oct. 7; Gregory Alan Isakov, recently named best acoustic folk artist by The Westword, on Oct. 14; Danielle Ate the Sandwich, a solid young songwriter with more than six million hits on YouTube to date, on Oct. 21; The Motet Plays Parliament Funkadelic, a 14-piece super group sure to bring a big Halloween dance party to the Vilar Center, on Oct. 28; and Jaimee Paul, whose voice has been compared to the likes of Aretha Franklin, on Nov. 4."One way to look at this pass is to consider that you're getting shows like The Motet and Paula Cole for $14 per show," Sabel said. "This is a fun, low-risk way to enjoy some incredible shows and discover some new music at a fantastic venue."The passes are transferable, making them a perfect gift for a friend or family member.Tickets for the VPAC's 2012 Underground Sound Series are on sale Monday and available online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 970-845-TIXS or in person at the VPAC Box Office in Beaver Creek.
