Global Mala Yoga for Peace day returns to Vail Saturday

VAIL - Vail joins the global community this Saturday with Global Mala Yoga for Peace, a yoga practice held concurrently across all five continents to further the U.N. World Peace Day on the Fall Equinox. For the sixth year, The Vail Vitality Center at Vail Mountain Lodge is hosting this free, all-levels community practice to foster collective consciousness and the intention of selfless service on Solaris lawn from 9 to 11a.m.

"Global Mala is a seed of a worldwide experiment into the power of meditation in action. Regardless of experience, age or flexibility, it's amazing to see what happens when we unite for a common goal," said Studio Coordinator Julia Clarke, who will be teaching alongside several yoga teachers from the Vitality Center. "Children are more than welcome, this will be a spirited and playful practice."

The Sanskrit word "mala" roughly translates as "sacred necklace," and the concept of the event is to weave a string of collective peaceful practices around the globe. Global Mala is a project of the Yoga Health Foundation.

This is an outdoor event and participants are advised to dress in layers, bring a yoga mat or towel, sunscreen and water. For information, visit www.vailvitalitycenter.com or call 970-476-7960.
