VAIL - As an action-packed fall kicks into high gear, Vail Restaurant Month's second week will celebrate Vail's active and healthy lifestyle by featuring foodie adventures in many of Vail's dining hotspots.All week long during "Health & Outdoors Week," Monday through Sept. 30, culinary experiences whipped up by Vail's top chefs are paired to active events and healthy lifestyle themes. "This is one of our most inspirational and entertaining weeks for Vail, with two major celebrity events on Friday and Saturday," says Vail Restaurant Month co-founder Ilene Rapkin. "I hope everyone visiting Vail and local folks will have the chance to experience the genius of Martha Rose Shulman at her two Terra Bistro events, and to meet two incredible athlete celebrities at the 'Run Ride Refresh' Happy Hour."Weekend highlights include the popular annual "Run Ride Refresh" Happy Hour at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Vail Chophouse, sponsored by Bicycling Magazine, Runner's World, Vail Recreation District and Michelob Ultra. The event, preceded by a free celebrity run and ride at 2 p.m., is hosted by Bicycling editor Matt Phillips and legendary runner Ellen Miller, and will feature themed appetizers, three legendary Belgian beers on draft, and free Bicycling and Runner's World goody bags for the first 100 attendees. On Friday and Saturday, two exclusive dining and cooking events hosted by Terra Bistro will feature New York Times columnist and best-selling cookbook author Martha Rose Shulman. All this week, Vail's most acclaimed and beloved restaurants present inspiring, adventurous culinary experiences, including healthy and outdoors-themed menus and prix-fixe multi-course dinners at Vail's top restaurants, complimentary beer and wine tastings, a top secret sushi adventure and cooking classes, picnics and hikes with star chefs and nutrition experts. Each week of Vail Restaurant Month has its own theme highlighted by special events and activities for singles, couples, groups and families. Coming up next: Oct. 1-7 is "Family Week" featuring "Little Foodies in the Kitchen" cooking classes and parties for kids.
