Colorado Mountain College's Edwards campus houses a pottery studio with five kilns, 10 high-quality potter's wheels and more. The faculty offers classes for all levels of students, from beginners to professionals.
"It's an amazing studio that is open to the community," said Colleen Everett, who leads the ceramics program at CMC. "The students have access to an outdoor reduction gas glaze firings, soda and raku kilns as well as traditional electric kilns."
This well-maintained studio is open for classes, workshops and more. Each class costs about $20 per week for studio use and faculty instructions. It is a great place to meet new friends and connect with excellent instructors, said Everett, who leads the ceramics program at CMC. Named "Teacher of the Year" in 2011, Everett received her ceramic degree at the college of design, architecture and art at the University of Cincinnati. Her work can be found in the White House Collection, the Smithsonian and many corporate and private collections. Everett's art pieces have been shown in the Contemporary Crafts Museum, NYC, Springfield and Seattle Art Museums and galleries across the country.
Autumn classes begin on Oct. 23, and you can register by calling 970-569-2904 or online at www.coloradomtn.edu. Or friend them on Facebook (CMC Clay Studio) to keep current with the schedule.
