The situation has literally come to guns for members of the Eagle Town Board and the Gypsum Town Council.
But not to worry.
On Thursday, Oct. 25, members of the two boards have scheduled a sit-down meeting at the Gypsum Shooting Sports Club. The plan is for some informal discussion followed by a shooting interlude.
According to Eagle Mayor Yuri Kostick, the get-together was prompted by his recent appearance before the Gypsum Town Council to discuss the town's decision to halt the Costco revenue sharing agreement beginning next year. Kostick said as he spoke with the town council members, everyone agreed both the Eagle and Gypsum communities would benefit from increased communications. They also noted that it would be a good idea to approach the gathering as more of a social gathering versus a board meeting.
"We are neighbors and we shouldn't be strangers," said Kostick.
He noted the Oct. 25 meeting doesn't have a formal agenda.
"We will see if we can come up with some things we can work on together, at gunpoint if necessary," joked Kostick. "It's very Western, isn't it?"
