Vail Daily column: Apres Expo in Beaver Creek draws businesses

After a beautiful day with the first snow blanketing the Vail Valley, business people from throughout the area journeyed to the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek for the Apres Expo. The evening was one of products and services, technology, networking and good old fashioned offseason merriment before everyone gets too busy to think. There were a variety of businesses, from La Tour and Fiesta Jalisco Restaurants to High Altitude Computers and Batter Cupcakes. This show supplants the previous BizTech show and featured a free seminar on 10 digital media strategies to build your business by Eric Bengston.

Loads of business cards were divvied out and lots hands were shook. It is always fun to see men in a proper suit and tie and women in hose and heels as it is such a novelty in our mountain town. A huge highlight of the evening was the presentation by Steammaster of checks of $10,000 to four different causes including a scholarship fund in honor and memory of former employee Steammaster Kim Matthews.

said, "We have helped her children through college and have set up a scholarship fund in her name. We are very excited to present these checks this evening," said Steammaster CEO Raj Manickam.

Vail Valley Charitable Fund and Mountain Hospice were among the recipients of the donations.

There are many new businesses in the area to check out. So, whether you are supporting a business that is tried and true or checking out something new, now is the time to get out and enjoy the off season specials that many of the area businesses have to offer. Venture out and support your local economy and be sure to partake in the Apres Expo next year.
