Huskies fall in Craig

CRAIG - A cold Friday night up in Craig was the destination for the Battle Mountain football Huskies as it met Moffat County on the Bulldogs' Senior Night, which resulted in a 48-14 for the hosts, thanks to Bubba Ivers' three touchdowns.-

The Huskies were looking good in the first six minutes of the game as the offense was getting some first downs and making the Bulldogs punt on their first two possessions. The Bulldogs then came with a burst of energy, scoring three touchdowns in a time frame of 1:30.

Scoring for the Bulldogs was Jacob Teeter on an 11-yard run. Then, Michael Samuelson was also able to get an 11-yard run for a touchdown followed by an Ivers 44-yard score. At the end of the first quarter, the Bulldogs were dominating early 23-0.

At the start of the second quarter though the Huskies were fired up and quarterback Ben Maslan was able to connect with receiver Keenan Bowman for a 44-yard touchdown. The Huskies were on the board, trailing 23-7. Later in the second quarter, Bowman was able to pick off Ivers and get a decent return on the turnover.-

The momentum was changing for Huskies and on that interception they were in scoring territory until Maslan in turn was picked.-

The Bulldogs took advantage of that turnover and Samuelson would get a 9-yard touchdown right before the half. The score was 29-7 at the half, despite some good play by the Huskies.

The Bulldogs accounted for three touchdowns in the third quarter. Ivers shined in the second half running for a 65-yard touchdown and tossing a 40-yarder to Joe Camilletti. Also, Josh Pritchard was able to run it in for the Bulldogs on a 1-yarder.

There were still some positives for the Huskies in that third quarter because Blaize Olle had a big 41-yard run for the Huskies, and, then, in fourth quarter, he was able to get into the end zone on a 6-yard run.-

Moffat County Bulldogs (5-4 overall, and 3-4 league) faces Palisade Friday, while Battle Mountain (0-9, 0-7) will finish its season against the Glenwood Springs on the Huskies' Senior Night. Both kickoffs are at 7 p.m.
