Bravo educational program receives grant

VAIL, Colorado - The Bravo Vail Valley Music Festival was awarded a 2013 Arts Works grant of $15,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts. This is an increase of $3,000 from the Arts Works grant Bravo was awarded by the NEA in 2012. This is Bravo's ninth year as a grant recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Arts Works grant will support Bravo's 2013 efforts to expand and diversify music opportunities and education programs including Music Matters programs, community engagement concerts, master classes and the Young Professionals-in-Residence program.

"We are honored to receive this level of recognition and support from the NEA," said James W. Palermo, Bravo's executive director. "This grant is an investment in Bravo and the Vail Valley as the funds support our mission to enrich people's lives through the power of music. The award makes it possible for us to continue to bring world-class music to Vail."

The National Endowment for the Arts was established in 1965 and supports artistic excellence, creativity, and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities. It is the largest annual funder of the arts in the United States.

Bravo was one of 832 arts organizations that received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The 2013 National Endowment for the Arts grants total $22.3 million, span 13 artistic disciplines and fields, and focus primarily on the creation of work and the presentation of both new and existing works for the benefit of American audiences. A total of 12 grants were awarded to Colorado organizations.
