We would like to thank everyone who helped to make this past Veterans Day Awareness Week such a special one. We feel that we certainly achieved our goal of educating our community and honoring our veterans.
Thank you to the principals, school staffs, students and parent organizations who hosted our veteran guest speakers and welcomed them with coffee, treats, and even a full-blown luncheon or two!
The students were respectful and their questions and comments were touching.
Thanks to our veterans guest speakers who took time from their busy schedules to share their stories and experiences with kids and adults alike. Special recognition goes to Bern Krueger, Pete Thompson, Gary Thornton, Mike Mathias, John Krueger, Jim Bogle, Eric King, and the others who answered questions with aplomb and humor.
We learned a lot from you!
Thanks to the community volunteers who were prepared to proceed with our annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Freedom Park, and willing to brave the nasty weather. Unfortunately it had to be canceled for safety reasons, but we appreciate that you offered to make it memorable and meaningful.
Lastly, thank you to KZYR 97.7 the Zephyr and Rohn Robbins, host of "Community Focus," for providing yet another venue for our valley to hear living history as he interviewed three of our local World War II vets: Herb Rubinstein, Alan Aarons and Ernie Brown.
Thank you, gentleman, and thanks to all of our veterans for serving our country and educating our community. We honor you.
