Vail Daily letter: The worth of a person

To my family, the parable of two wealthy men:

The first wealthy man was a shrewd businessman. Always focused on the bottom line, he made strategic decisions based on profits. This businessman accumulated great wealth and retired early in life. After passing, this man's funeral was attended by those most affected during his time on earth - an equally shrewd family, accountant and attorney.

The second wealthy man was a compassionate businessman. His decisions were merciful and, at times, made even at the expense of profits. This businessman didn't accumulate great wealth and worked his entire life. After passing, this man's funeral was attended by those most effected during his life on Earth - a more compassionate family, accountant, attorney, friends, employees and customers too many to count.

The real measure of your wealth is how much you'd be worth if you lost all your money.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
